You like to do as much research ahead of time as you can. That may be reading about the company, looking them up on the Internet. If a company has a web site there's usually a wealth of information about the company on it. Another technique is to call ahead and ask questions. You need to ask questions of the person that can give you the right kinds of answers. You might speak to a receptionist. You might speak to a marketing director. You might speak to a product manager. But you need to do a little investigation ahead of time. That is the best thing of course.
